Each month, we'll be rewarding one of our employees for exceptional performance and we will share their inspiring stories with all of you! Last month's winner is Eric Sheppard, Assistant General Manager of our Philadelphia region.

Eric J. Sheppard Employee of the Month, June 2016

Wash Cycle Laundry Employee Since June 2015

What is your job and what do you do?

My current project is working on the first OPL (on-premise laundry) with WCL.  I am the manager of the site.  I am responsible for the upkeep of the facility, managing the quality, etc.

Why do you love your job?

I like my job this much.  Look at how far my hands are from each other.

What was your job situation before Wash Cycle Laundry, and how has working here made your life better?

Before WCL, I spent a few months traveling the states for some mental relief.  It was one of the best things I've done for myself.  During that time, I came to a greater understanding of who I am. Working at WCL reminded me of a class I took when I was 15.  I got certified in Sigma Six, a discipline that focuses on data-driven results in almost any form of business.  WCL is like a refresher course with real world experience.  I appreciate this for my future plans to start my own business.

Tell us your favorite Wash Cycle story or achievement.

I came, I saw, I conquered...record sales...sold out concerts.  *Evil Laugh*

What do you do when you're not working?

I go to classes, handle my appointments, and take care of the things I need to do to better my life.

What's the biggest thing you want our customers to know about you?

A lot.  When I have a chance to read, I am reading about feminism, LBTGQ+, social issues, colorism and of course manga and comics.  I love to cook.  One of the folks who helped raised me is Italian, and I am constantly trying to re-live some parts of my childhood.  That involves Italian food such as Mushroom Risotto, Bruschetta, and Focaccia Bread.  I am also in love with Chinese food, Jamaican food, and Halal food (street meat).  I am a huge tech fan and quasi-gamer.  My current project is working on building a Hackintosh, an Apple OS on a PC.  I am also working on starting a clothing line that will help provide school supplies and book allowance for black youth entering college.   For his efforts,  Eric was rewarded with a gift card to a restaurant of his choice, and he'll be displaying our bright, shiny  Employee of the Month trophy at our West Philly facility all month long!
