Launder and Press
Each month, we’ll be rewarding one of our employees for exceptional performance and we will share their inspiring stories with all of you! Last month’s winner is Brenda Murphy, our Laundry Team Leader in Washington, DC.
Employee of the Month, May 2016
Wash Cycle Laundry Employee Since June 2015
What is your job and what do you do?
A lot – to weigh bags, load and unload washers, log appointments in our roster, make sure my team folds & bags in a timely manner, make sure all transactions of money are logged in computer, and also make sure my team puts in their work log forms.
Why do you love your job?
I love my job because it’s a challenge, and I love challenges. I love to satisfy the customers and do it with expertise so I won’t get any complaints!
What was your job situation before Wash Cycle Laundry, and how has working here made your life better?
My job before this was housekeeping at Washington Hospital Center (MEDSTAR). Wash Cycle Laundry made my life better by believing in me – that I was capable of handling this position. Also, I get to use other skills while I’m learning new ones.
Tell us your favorite Wash Cycle story or achievement.
My favorite accomplishment at WCL is that I made Employee of the Month, which caught me by surprise. I’m so glad [everyone] sees something in me that I really didn’t see. Thank You!
What do you do when you’re not working?
When I’m not working I take in some movies and spend time with my grandkids and great-grandkids.
What’s the biggest thing you want our customers to know about you?
What I want the customers to know about me is that I do my work with perfection to meet their expectations.
For his efforts, Brenda was rewarded with a gift card to a restaurant of her choice and she’ll be displaying our bright, shiny Employee of the Month trophy at our Washington, DC facility all month long!
