May is Bike Month!  Please join us in our ongoing celebration as we share some cycling stories from our employees all month long.  If you missed them, check out parts one, twothreefourfive, and six!

Carl Drexler

Cyclist - Center City & North Philadelphia

What is your favorite cycling memory? Riding on the Abandoned PA Turnpike to ride through the old tunnels out at Breezewood, PA. What's your least favorite or most unexpected cycling memory? In 2005, I got called in to work on December 23rd.  I was working as a painter, and my ride was 10 miles from Williamstown to Waterford, NJ.  I was riding down Winslow road, then, bam!  I was on the ground.  That was the first - and only - time I was hit by a car. How often do you choose to ride a bike and why? I ride every day.  It was mainly to spite driving as all anyone cares about is status symbol things like driving, and it annoys me still that everyone is always "proud to get a license." Why did you want to work for Wash Cycle Laundry? I found out about it a few years ago.  I wanted to do a delivery job that was consistent, and legal pay where I didn't get a 1099 form every year.  It's also hourly vs. by the delivery, which is a plus. What's your earliest bike riding memory? Riding my first bike from my house to my friend's house back and forth once I figured out how to ride a bike when I was 7. Finally, what would you say to convince someone to ride a bike? Stay healthy, be different, ride a bike.

In addition to working for Wash Cycle Laundry, Carl helps to organize the Philly Full Moon Bike Ride each month, and he posts photos of his personal bike work on his Instagram account.
