Our Bike Trailer
How do we carry laundry on a bicycle? Our workhorse is a 64-inch aluminum flatbed trailer that's capable of hauling 300 lbs of cargo. We don't ever load it up that heavy -- but the trailer does easily fit three 55-gallon bins, or a number of containers in other configurations. This is more than enough room to handle a lot of Center City clients in a single delivery, and can haul about 8 people's personal laundry at a time. And since our operations are hyper-local, it doesn't take us much time to stop by our laundry facility for the next load.
Handling Traffic
Our bike trailer fits in a standard bike lane, so during afternoons when Center City's east-west arteries are jammed with congestion, we can still zip around town on Pine, Spruce, and other streets with bike lanes. Our trailers never have to double-park either -- and if you spend enough time riding around Center City in the daytime, you know that a single double-parked delivery truck at 16th and Walnut is more than enough to cause a backup for blocks.
Keeping Clothes Dry
Our Rubbermaid-brand bins shut out the elements and keep clothes and linens dry when it gets wet out, making sure that laundry is as clean when it's delivered as it is when it leaves our racility.

Bicycles make great cargo vehicles
One of the basic principles of efficient delivery operations is that there is a "right vehicle" for every route. Just like it wouldn't make sense to use a bike and trailer to haul several tons of cargo across the country, we don't think it really makes sense to use a delivery truck to drop off 20-pound bags of laundry in a dense urban environment like Center City Philadelphia. We like to think of ourselves as pushing the green envelope, but our use of bikes is as much driven by hard dollars and cents as it is about values.
